O knihe
African night women and their health is a comparative study of prostitutes in Nigeria and Botswana. The study investigates prostitution from the prostitutes own definition of the situation and focuses specifically on the socio-cultural issues that play a role in the existence and sustenance of prostitution despite the stigma attached and how they care for their reproductive health. The findings suggest that economic need rather than lack of morals creates prostitutes and their situation of vulnerability as women is reinforced by their status as prostitutes. It looks as the role of the law enforcement officers, the government and significant others with these experiences. The study makes a valuable contribution to the understanding of the particular experiences which inform their actions and the way in which policies may be informed to address the phenomenon.
