O knihe

In this book, the authors converse about one of the most prevalent neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Notwithstanding its prevalence, they observed a relative paucity of knowledge about the very nature of the disorder as well as about its proposed management among fellow healthcare professionals. Thus they designed a research project to gauge the extent of this dearth in knowledge as well as pin down the specified domains in which it was deficient. The book talks about the cross-sectional survey-based comparative analysis that took place at Maternity and Children Hospital and King Faisal Hospital Makkah, Saudi Arabia from Dec 2017 to May 2018. The validated self-administered "Knowledge about childhood autism among health workers" questionnaire was used along with a set of additional questions. The authors confer about the results of their research and its implications for the care and support provided to the children with autism spectrum disorder and their families. They talk through possible explanations for this lack of knowledge and conclude by proposing worthwhile strategies to overcome this knowledge gap in the light of their experience.
