How the Rev. James Harvey could have reconciled himself to existence in a place so utterly remote from the world, was and still remains a puzzle to all the friends of his younger days probably if he himself could have felt and thought at his age of fifty as he did when he left Oxford, he too would be as much puzzled as his friends. Fortunately for himself his mind was of too healthy a nature to do anything of the kind. His parish afforded him ample occupa tion and his own family sufficient society indeed of him it might honestly be said.
