O knihe
Bargur cattle are one of drought purpose cattle breeds that belongs to Tamil Nadu. Burgur is a native breed of the Bargur forest hills in Anthiyur Taluk of Erode District in Western Tamil Nadu, India. This breed evolved in and around the Bargur Hills of Tamil Nadu. They are known to be very aggressive and are of fiery disposition, hence they are difficult to train. Accustomed to forest hills of the rugged and inhospitable forests of the Western Ghats, they are best known for their endurance, speed and trotting ability. Their milk is known to contain medicinal value. As this breed consumes grasses and herbs from forest areas. They are usually reared in herds, exclusively by the Kannada-speaking Lingayats of the Bargur region. The Burgur cattle are usually moderate and compact in body built and have reddish skin with white patches, sometime though full white-brown complexions and black-white complexions are found. Both bulls and cows have horns. Their horns are light brown or black in color and emerge closer at the root and are inclined backward, outward and upward with a pointed sharp end.
