Transparent, protective and hydrophobic polymeric materials to coat glass substrates have been developed by free radical polymerization and applied by simple cost-effective dip coating method on glass slides rather than CVD, PVD and spin coating method. Protective and Self-cleaning coatings have received a great deal of attention lately, both in research and in commercial applications. The advantages of self-cleaning coatings range from reducing maintenance costs and protection from environmental pollution. In this regard hydrophobic surfaces are very important for their self-cleaning property because of water droplets rolling nature along with dirt particles.
