Lila, on the other hand, is a conservative Christian and the daughter of a renowned pastor. Lila is against everything Kya stands for and for a time, the two try to make each other as miserable as possible. However, when extreme circumstances cause Kya's life to turn completely upside down, Lila realizes that Kya has no one to turn to and completely changes her attitude. She soon becomes Kya's best friend and they get along great...for awhile. When Lila can't make sense of the feelings she's having for Kya, she pushes Kya away and the two take a dramatic and painful journey together that shows them the true value of friendship and the power of love.
