The contingency approach is one of the most significant methodologies of the management discipline. This method argues that there is no best organizational design and no managerial rules that are universally valid, but rather, flexibility is one of the greatest managerial assets. Organizations must be conceived as sets of interacting subsystems. Organizational, structural sub-systems in technology, environment and culture are always evolving and interacting and require innovative and constantly shifting modifications in order to achieve the best efficiency and effect. In this innovative work, Hasan Metin offers an innovative analysis of NGOs within the contingency approach perspective. It suggests that when NGOs confront these sub-systems in their operations, they need to employ a flexible and elastic organizational structure that gives them the greatest latitude for success.
