Diabetes is a metabolic disease characterized by Chronic hyperglycaemia and exacerbated complications. Curcumin, a component of Turmeric has lipid lowering abilities. Periodontitis is the sixth complication of Diabetes. And Diabetes act as a risk factor for development of the disease.Studies have identified improvements in Glycaemic Control following Periodontal Therapy in people suffering from Diabetes. Hence in the study, Photodynamic therapy has also been attempted using curcumin solution and LED light to activate it in Periodontal Pockets in comparison to PDT employed with synthetic dye Methylene Blue dye and application of Diode laser in Periodontal Pockets of Type 2 Diabetic Subjects.
