This monograph primarily aims to offer a thorough overview of the key theoretical work in the field of idiomatology from a syntactic, semantic and socio-cultural point of view. The lexical multi-word unit of idiom is thus discussed at every level of linguistic analysis and is presented as an entity of its own lexical integrity that forms the core of the phraseological system of the English language.
