O knihe

Dental Fluorosis is a developmental disturbance of enamel, due to successive exposures to higher concentration of fluoride during the formative stage of tooth development, leading to enamel with lower mineral content and enhanced porosity. Several indices have been developed to diagnose, qualify and quantify the clinical features of dental fluorosis. The diagnostic difficulties are usually related between fluorotic and non fluoride opacities. A complete history of the clinical condition, teeth affected with specific areas, pattern of lesion, colour and its method of detection are the few important diagnostic criterias. Management protocol for dental fluorosis is based on the patient's needs and expectations, the cause and severity of discolorations, patient's oral health and financial considerations. This book has highlighted the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of dental fluorosis among various non fluoride tooth discolourations and management as well. A correct diagnosis results in appropriate management of dental fluorosis that can be very rewarding for both the dentist and patients and hence plays significant role in oral epidemiology and public health concern.
