This book is organized into five major chapters on Bangladesh livestock sectors. Following the introductory chapter, a review of the relevant literature is presented in chapter two and methodology is described in chapter three. The main results of the study are presented in chapter four and divided into three major sections. Section one presents the production elasticity, profit elasticity and resource use efficiency of livestock farming and livestock products and also presents the economic scenarios of production. Section two estimates the marketable and marketed surplus of livestock products and factor demand analysis of livestock production. This section also estimates the consumption pattern of major food items and livestock products in urban and rural area of Bangladesh. In Section three deals with the production problems of livestock farming and livestock products. Summary of the major findings of the study and based on these findings the chapter also offers a concluding remarks and policy recommendations are presented in chapter five. Professor M. Kamruzzaman was Mamun's major Professor of the advisory committee.
