Introduction: Endodontics is the science and art devoted to treating the tooth and periapical tissue. Its success depends on the cleaning, disinfection and three-dimensional obturation of the root canal system. In particular, irrigation is indispensable to achieve this disinfection. Objective: To determine the possible differences in endodontic treatment when using calcium hydroxide and 1% sodium hypochlorite as an irrigating substance in necropulpectomies. Methodological Design: A prospective quasi-experimental longitudinal study was carried out from March to December 2019, at the "Victoria de Santa Clara" Teaching Stomatological Clinic. The sample selection was made up of 42 patients. Results: Female sex was predominant, as well as the age group of 26 - 35 years old. The most affected dental type was monoradicular. The most representative initial pathology was necrosis. The most isolated microorganisms were Streptococcus. Most of the patients obtained the result of the bacteriological control without growth in consultation 3: It was concluded that both substances were effective in necropulpectomies.
