The Prime purpose of this book is to present the basic principles of slope stability analysis.The finite element method consists in dividing the particles into individual elements with sufficiently simple configuration. The advantage of a finite element approach in the analysis of slope stability problems over traditional limit equilibrium methods is that no assumption needs to be made in advance about the shape or location of the failure surface, slice side forces and their directions.
