O knihe
African Slaves, after over 200 years (1619-1863) of enslavement, emerged from the first leg of our arduous journey as a free people. Once Emancipated, many African-Americans returned to Africa to the Republic of Liberia, founded in 1847 with the support of the United States Government, creating a new ethnic group called the Americo-Liberians. Those African-Americans, our American ancestors, who chose to stay, began the second leg of our journey in America; culturally, academically, economically, socially and politically challenged with only a dream that kept us moving towards full citizenship, equal justice and absolute freedom to equally advance our interests; academically, economically, socially and politically.
We recognize that if African-Americans are to continue putting forth our best efforts to expand our role in America's future, we must put a stop to our Black Youth's failing behavior. If we are to farm future black leaders, we must cultivate our youth to choose academic responsibility over self defeating behavior. And as parents and grandparents, we must choose to become directly involved in our children's education at home, coalescing with the school and community to nurture each child's potential.
