Auszug: Nightwish ist eine Symphonic-Metal-Band aus dem finnischen Kitee. Die Band um den Keyboarder Tuomas Holopainen ist eine der erfolgreichsten Metalbands Finnlands, und galt mit der ausgebildeten Sopranistin Tarja Turunen als stilprägend für ihr Genre. Die Musik von Nightwish ist stark von Filmmusik inspiriert. Im Jahr 2005 trennte sich die Band von Turunen, und stellte im Mai 2007 Anette Olzon als neue Sängerin vor. Ende September des gleichen Jahres erschien mit Dark Passion Play das erste Album mit Olzon. Es übertraf den kommerziellen Erfolg des letzten Albums mit Turunen deutlich, erreichte direkt am ersten Tag Platinstatus in Finnland, und stieg dort auf Platz 1 der Albumcharts, Deutschland und weiteren europäischen Ländern ein. Seit September 2007 war die Band auf einer Welttournee, die bis zum 19. September 2009 andauerte. Das letzte Konzert fand in der Hartwall Arena in Helsinki statt.
