For-goat-ten is a beautifully illustrated story book with a very important life lesson: It shows that just because your friends are not with you does not mean that they have forgotten you. In this book 'forgotten' and 'goat' have been put together to make a fun word 'for-goat-ten' - a word to describe how a goat feels when she thinks she has been left behind.
Roxi the goat lives with many other goats on a farm. They love making music together. Some stamp their feet, some clap their hooves together, others click their horns or shake the bells around their necks. Sometimes Roxi sings loudly to the music. She thinks she is the star of the group.
The goats also enjoy climbing the hill on the farm. One day they are up high and Roxi is making music. She is so busy that she does not notice the other goats call her to go back down the hill. She suddenly realizes that she is all on her own. She can also hear the goats drumming, clapping and making music on the farm below, having a good time without her.
Roxi feels sad and lonely. She thinks she has been forgotten. Nobody comes to look for her and they carry on making music without her.
After some time Roxi hears the other goats calling her name. She runs to them as fast as she can and asks why they forgot about her on the hill. They explain that they did not want to interrupt her while she was busy. They knew she would come down when she was ready. Roxi feels good knowing that the others do care about her, and that she was not forgotten at all.
For-goat-ten is part of the exciting Farm-tastic series. This is a set of 10 story books for children, with farm animal characters. Word play is used to bring an additional element of fun to the books. Each story highlights a valuable lesson, such as the importance of hope, that we all have a purpose, and the power of an imagination.
