Solomon Voltaire was born in Ottawa, Ontario, to Haitian immigrant parents. After completing his Criminology studies at Carleton University, he joins the Canadian Armed Forces and serves in Egypt, Iraq and Afghanistan. While on leave in Egypt, Solomon is wounded by an Islamist and returns to Ottawa a broken man with shattered dreams.
