They were separated by 163 years ... 1850 - New York, New York. Katrina Ahmansen, a 22-year-old Englishwoman, is embarking on the adventure of a lifetime as the personal assistant to the famous Swedish soprano, Jenny Lind. After arriving in New York for the diva's American tour, each of the singer's entourage is presented with a new stagecoach/steamer trunk as a gift from the tour's promoter, P.T. Barnum. Katrina's great adventure is soon to become even greater. 2013 - Albuquerque, New Mexico. Nathan Thompson is a 24-year-old college senior with a beautiful girlfriend, Tina Wade, and a bright future as a corporate attorney. One day he discovers an old, dilapidated stagecoach/steamer trunk in his grandparent's garage and, intrigued, decides to restore it-setting in motion events which will change his life forever. Nathan and Katrina soon discover the two trunks are one and the same and somehow connect their worlds, but only once a month for each-and on different dates. Through letters, pictures and gifts they share their hopes and dreams and fall in love. Katrina becomes obsessed with the idea that there is a way for her to join Nathan through the trunk. He fears for her safety and objects, but unknown to him and against great odds, she quits the tour and travels west in an attempt to conquer Time and join the man she loves. Tina Wade uncovers the secrets of the trunk and Nathan and Katrina's "affair", as well as their plans to be together. Tina is determined to prevent this from ever becoming a reality.
