O knihe

This book is centred on international, regional and municipal law as it relates to human rights in the workplace. It covers both covert and overt acts of workplace discrimination. The book goes further to examine the human rights situation in Nigeria by taking into account, the provisions guaranteed in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, Labour Act Chapter 198, Police Regulations of Nigeria 1968 (No. 539 Chapter 359), International and Regional human rights instruments (binding and non binding) signed and ratified by Nigeria. The adequacy of legislative provisions relating to the protection of working pregnant women, working women with children, employer liability and remuneration as they relate to equal pay are examined. The judicial enforcement of such provisions in cases of violation is also assessed by examining international, regional and local case law. The aim of this book is to encourage Nigeria and other countries in the fulfillment of their obligations under international human rights law, and to respect their obligations by enacting laws that will prevent discrimination in the workplace.
