O knihe

In this study the potential of household waste charcoal has been determined as low cost adsorbent for the removal of heavy metals (lead (II) and silver (I)) from the industrial effluents with a double objective of solid waste management for improved treatment of waste water. The household waste activated charcoal and zero valent iron nano-particle doped household waste activated charcoal is synthesized and checked for its removal efficacy for heavy metals lead and silver in laboratory and is characterized using FT-IR, powdered XRD and AFM analysis. The comparison of the affecting parameters has shown that prepared simple household waste activated charcoal without zero valent iron nano-particles doping showed the removal for Lead 79.11% and for Silver 75.21%. While in case of zero valent iron nano-particles doped household waste activated charcoal was found quite effective in removing 92% Lead (II) and 89% Silver (I) from the simulated samples. This study indicated that zero valent iron nano-particles doped household waste activated charcoal can be used as an effective, low cost and environment friendly adsorbent for the treatment of tannery and battery manufacturing waste water.
