Mr. Dunster has carefully endeavored, throughout this work, to observe a due medium between a paraphrase and a verbal translation; he kept himself close to the author's sense, and had some regard to the genius and spirit of every particular satire and epistle. This Dunster thought the most likely way to make Horace intelligible, which is much better done in prose than verse. Due to the age and scarcity of the original we reproduced, some pages may be spotty, faded or difficult to read. Written in Old English.
