O knihe
The abrupt climate change events that happened during the Last Glacial Period, are the most remarkable variations of the climate in the past. This research will try to provide answers about the time-scale of the events and the required resolution necessary for their analysis. The ice cores are the most outstanding paleoclimate archive capable to record the events, due to the ultra-high-resolution that they can offer. The represented features of the events and the results of the analysis of the ocean sediments and the speleothems in this research, should provide the necessary knowledge about the time-scale and the features of the events. That information should be used for posing a hypothesis of what evidence of the events should be found in the ice cores, in terms of the proxies and the depth versus time-scale profile. Finally, the hypothesis should be tested against the results of the analysis of the ice core records with LA-ICP-MS. The main objectives of the research are to represent that studying of the events is of high importance, and that the analysis of the ice cores with LA-ICP-MS, offers the most desirable and precise information about the features that mark the events.
