It is said that, at present not a single corner of the globe is free from pollution as they are continuously distributed by anthropogenic activities. Agricultural wastes exert direct and severe impact on the aquatic life. In India, the pesticides are being widely used in agriculture on a variety of crop for pest control. Indiscriminate use of pesticides has seriously endangered aquatic fauna, man and his environment. Ratnagiri district is famous for mango and paddy production; and Imidacloprid is widely used to control pests of mango and paddy. Economically important fauna includes fishes, oysters and clams.
