Impact of macrophyte proliferation

In the period from March 1 to June 1, 2017, an Internship of Professional Insertion was carried out within the Volontariat Pour l'Environnement (VPE) in Yaoundé. During it, several activities were carried out among which the sanitation of premises, the census of activities carried out by the riparian populations of the Nyong River and the areas of macrophyte proliferation the identification of macrophyte species. Following these activities, the study entitled "Impact of macrophyte proliferation on the Nyong River" was conducted on the Nyong River. The objective of this work was to assess the impact of macrophyte proliferation on the Nyong River in order to propose sustainable management measures. To achieve this, physico-chemical parameters were analyzed and the Organic Pollution Index was calculated in order to know the health status of the waters drained by the Nyong River, preceded by a specific inventory of the macrophytes that inhabit the Nyong.
