O knihe
This book provides in details Inland Waterways Transport (IWT) operations in developing countries and some developed countries. It offers strategies and development frameworks to forecast cost and capacity utilization via empirical models. An attempt is made to optimize the cost of port operations in Nigeria towards bench marking other Sub Saharan ports. The quantitative estimates are concerned with the activities associated with the operations of Nigerian seaports and especially river ports, the costs and the benefits derived to users of these ports. A Linear Programming Model for sea port operations; and Integer Linear Programming for River terminals were formulated from the cost components associated with the vessel- port relationships. This provides a basis for future projections in the area of IWT operations in Africa in respect of global perspectives.
