Sri Lanka as a developing country has achieved all most all health indicators set by the Millennium Development Goals well before 2015. Further, many of health indicators are comparable with health indicators of developed countries. Even though, Health care professionals of Sri Lanka are technically much concern about the ailment of the care seeker, they almost neglect the patients' point of view in treating his/her disease. Dissatisfaction and disagreements between care receivers and care providers are emerging frequently due to provider centered care in the health system. Quality Secretariat of Health Ministry of Sri Lanka is putting effort to make a paradigm shift from provider centered care to patient centered care. This survey intended to measure and publish inpatient experience of medical and surgical wards as an eye opening for care providers in the system. Mean scores for patient experience for domains; Physical environment of wards, care and treatment and leaving hospital were high or moderately high. But domains; care of doctors and nurses received a mean experience score of less than 2.6. This survey will open up new research areas to researchers across the world.
