This book focused on the extent to which socio-cultural factors influenced maternal morbidity and mortality in Nigeria. It attempted to improve upon the body of knowledge on socio-cultural variants of female circumcision, male dominance, wife inheritance, traditional birth practices, superstitions and early marriages as contributing factors to maternal morbidity and mortality in Nigeria. The findings from this study enhanced the current understanding of ethnicity, social-cultural characteristics as risk factors for increased maternal death.
