Youngsters Konki and Lonki are a brother and sister who live in South Africa. They and their animal friends do many things at home together, including baking bread, swimming, and generally just having fun.

This is the second book in the Konki and Lonki series of 13 books. The next book is Konki and Lonki in the Garden. The book series was designed to make a TV series, which can easily translate into African and other languages.

A love of animals and Africa inspired author Mariánne Dufornet to write the charming children's book Konki and Lonki at Home.

Mariánne Dufornet (nee Smit) was born in East London, South Africa, and first showed literary potential by winning an essay-writing contest at age six. She has been an artist since twelve, later earning a diploma in art and design at the Pretoria Technicon. She developed from a realist to a romantic impressionist and sometimes an expressionist, but is essentially an abstract symbolist and a colourist at heart, influenced and inspired by famed French artist Raoul Dufy. Her art is in collections in South Africa, Europe, and North America. She lives in Pretoria East, South Africa, with her husband Patrick, a professor of geology, two dogs, five cats, a cornucopia of visiting birds, field mice, two lemurs, and several goldfish. She published a children's colouring book in 1979, and then worked on the Konki and Lonki series, the first of which was published privately in South Africa in 2009. As an artist, she works mostly in pastels, watercolours, and acrylics, and illustrates her own children's books.
