The Minangkabau area was blessed with so much natural wealth that agriculture became a mainstay sector in West Sumatra. But the natural wealth of the Minangkabau, which was supposed to be a blessing, became a curse. In a number of areas rich in mines and plantations in West Sumatra, it is even prone to conflicts between communities and entrepreneurs.
