Some pieces reflect observations of people and their habits and eccentricities, such as The Blue Hair Express which describes a collection of elderly ladies who regularly take the "church bus" to their place of worship on Sundays. A number of the reflections describe life and places in a bygone era. The haiku poems contain profound wisdom, at least in the author's eyes.
