Mitch Blancardi presents a series of heartfelt poems as a passion and emotion-fueled glimpse into the mind and soul of a young woman, exposing her most profound feelings through the perspective of her own eyes.
So summarizes Little Things, the latest awe-inspiring book from Ms. Mitch Blancardi, a talented young woman who understands and has navigated the specters of loneliness, in addition to a plethora of other emotions, to the point that she is comfortable helping others through inspirational poetry. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Mitch now resides in Northern Italy, a move that has given her the time to put this collection together while reflecting on her life's myriad of ordeals, challenges and, ultimately, future aspirations.
Though she's always considered herself something of a social butterfly and adventurous spirit, Mitch Blancardi found herself prone to loneliness at a young age, a situation very difficult to come to grips with given the range of intense emotions she was experiencing, to say nothing of the fact that no one in her immediate circle seemed to understand exactly what she was going through. Turning to writing in order to express these emotions, Mitch found the outlet she was looking for...one which enabled her to put pen to paper, devoid of having her feelings be judged by anyone.
What came of all this was sheer and unadulterated solace, after Mitch was able to translate those chaotic feelings into intertwining words that flowed onto her paper, almost as if, as she describes it, "they were being drawn right out of [her] mind."
Indeed, when Mitch found her emotions at such a peak that they would almost paralyzed her, she began turning to her newfound passion for writing, ultimately putting all her fears, dreams, life experiences and feelings of love, whether negative or positive, onto those sheets of paper. What started with random thoughts strung together evolved into pieces of poetry so intricate and passion-endowed, they have actually enabled Mitch to come to grips with her emotions, and their source, in a coherent manner, all while helping her to understand the patterns of her feelings and life events.
It is undisputed that we have been privy to a number of great poets throughout the generations, including Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, Edgar Allan Poe, Walt Whitman and Maya Angelou, yet what Mitch Blancardi brings to the arena in the midst of her self-proclaimed "scribbling chaos" is something very unique, a blinding light for all those who have wandered down cavernous, dark tunnels. Always attempting to see this light hidden at the end of her own struggles, she is constantly, in her poetry writing, including the victory of light over the dark, the power to overcome and the prospect of a better tomorrow.
Ms. Blancardi's hope, through Little Things, is to reach those who need to hear such inspirational narratives and to relate to someone who has been through similar challenges, all while assuring them they are truly not alone. Even in the darkest days, says Mitch, through the most heart-wrenching moments, a light will always be there to shine through, making events take a turn for the better; for whoever is in need of such powerful emotional support, Ms. Mitch Blancardi wants them to know that they are stronger than they believe, more capable than just what they see and loved beyond compare.
These inherent themes run rampant through the poetry found in Little Things, with Mitch wanting every person reading the pieces to know that they are special and unique because of the emotions inside them, and that they are a blessing to this world, however, she stresses that no one should ever feel "less-than" or weak because of their emotions or sensitivity.
