Excerpt from Correspondence Between William Penn and James Logan, Secretary of the Province of Pennsylvania, and Others, 1700-1750, Vol. 2: From the Original Letters in Possession of the Logan Family

Richard Hough,1 one Of the best in the House, was, about three weeks ago, unfortunately overset in a Wherry, coming down the river, and, with two other persons, lost his life; the rest were saved. He is much lamented by all that knew him and understand the value Of a good man.
