O knihe
Mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek] play an important role in rainfed and irrigated agriculture by improving physical, chemical and biological properties of soil. It is a good source of protein and consumed as whole grains as well as dal in a variety of ways in homes. Despite its multifaceted importance, the mungbean production could not be stabilized in India due to several factors including diseases caused by fungi, nematodes and viruses. Among the diseases, Cercospora leaf spot and yellow mosaic virus are the more destructive for causing qualitative and quantitative losses worldwide. The yield losses vary depending upon how early the crop is infected in the season, crop variety and prevailing weather. In standing crop, use of chemicals as a curative measure is more effective comparatively prophylactic approaches. However, host resistance is an efficient, ecofriendly and reliable measure for management of plant diseases. All efforts to address the above issues have been included in present book. Cultural characteristics of Cercospora canescens as well as its management through suitable host resistance and chemical molecules have been explicated in this book.
