Aspiring bourgeoisie may be glad to know how they amuse the great family party of people of quality I hear the ball to the Queen at the Guildhall was extremely amusing. People very ridiculous. The ladies passed her at a run, never curtseying, and then returning to stare at her. Some of the gentlemen passed with their arms round the ladies waists, others holding them by the hand at arm's length, as if they were going to dance a minuet. One man kissed his hand to the Queen as he went by.
