O knihe

Low back pain (LBP) affects one third of the world's population at any given time. The presenting signs and symptoms of significant structural or mechanical spinal disease and those due to self limiting back pain are often similar and nonspecific, making the use of reliable diagnostic technique crucial to its correct management. MRI is the current gold standard for spine imaging, with its superior ability to define anatomy and potential to provide unique biochemical and physiological information. In the study which forms the basis of this book MR images of Lumbar spine from patients with LBP were analyzed and the relevant literature on this subject reviewed. The most prevalent cause for LBP is usually degenerative disease of the spine. A smaller portion of patients have other significant organic causes for their symptoms which are also discussed here. This book will be a useful guide for all those involved in dealing with patients having low back pain and for those who would like to better understand the spectrum of MR imaging findings in this condition to help direct appropriate treatment option.
