O knihe
The book focuses on and summarizes current research findings on cognitive problems in eating disorders (ED). The following issues are discussed in the publication: the problems of perception, attention, memory, learning; as well as dysfunction of executive, constructional and verbal functions. The studies on the intelligence quotient in anorexia and bulimia also have been presented. The relationships between deficiencies in body weight and cognitive status in anorexia and bulimia are discussed in the final section of this publication. This publication will allow clinicians (doctors, psychologists, dietetics, etc.), as well as people interested in this topic, to better understand the changes occurring at the level of central nervous system (CNS) in patients with eating disorders. These changes can be manifested in behavioral and cognitive dimension (e.g. sustain disease symptoms and erroneous cognitive schemes), and can influence the attitude towards illness and treatment.
