O knihe
Ocimum basilicum Linn, belonging to the Family Lamiaceae, is a species of great economic value, standing out for its medicinal use, being also used for the production of essential oils (EOs) and in the food industry. This study aimed to evaluate the chemical profile, total phenolics, antioxidant activity, toxicity and larvicidal activity of EO extracted from the leaves of O. basilicum L. Methyl chavicol and linalool were quantified as the major components in the EO obtained and biological properties were attributed to them. The EO was considered nontoxic by the criterion adopted. Total phenolic content totaled 440,121 mg EAT g-1. The best antioxidant results were obtained for the DPPH radical in IC50. The action of the was observed as larvicidal where the LC50 of 43.84 mg L-1 was determined, being efficient. The results obtained allowed to conclude that the EO studied presented efficient larvicidal activity against the larvae of Aedes aegypti, being important and encouraged its use and application.
