O knihe

Breast cancer is the most common tumor in women worldwide. The same that represents an incidence of 416,677 in patients between 20 to 44 years globally with a mortality rate of 81,400 women. In the National Oncological Institute "Dr. Juan Tanca Marengo" were diagnosed between 2018 and 2019, 1671 new cases of breast cancer of which 377 cases corresponding to 23% are young women between 20 to 44 years, among these cases referred in young women 162 were operated and only 75 patients underwent the different onco-reconstructive surgeries. Breast cancer radically alters the corporal and psychological aspect of the woman. The different surgical procedures such as mastectomy drastically change the physical appearance of the patients due to the mutilation of one or both breasts, as a result their self-esteem can be affected. Therefore, it is concluded that the patients who underwent onco-reconstructive surgery showed a gain in self-esteem and that this type of surgery does not interfere with the patient's survival.
