Chloroplast transformation has gained strong interest in regard to production of vaccines in plants. Numerous advantages are pledging for the expression of vaccine antigens through the chloroplast. Due to economic limitations in the availability of vaccines against infectious diseases, it is necessary to develop improved vaccines which are more efficient and cost effective and hence, easily affordable to most patients in resource-poor countries.
