O knihe
How many Americans can tell the location of Portugal in the world map? To be true, there are not too many. This book explores such a relatively unknown nation to the world. It is a history of Portugal -- the Rise and the Fall of the Portuguese Colonial Empire. Before Spaniards discovered north and south American continents and its colonialism flourished, there was Portugal. The Portuguese people were the ones who first explored the vast oceans outside Europe, and therefore they were the first maritime pioneers of the New World. This content uncovers such as a "Forgotten Portugal'' being regarded as a "shadow nation" to Spain. It narrates stories such as the rise and fall of Portugal, which once had a glorious colonialism such as discoveries of Brazil, southeastern Asian countries that included Japan. Why did the Portuguese empire fall? Because of the so-called "Carnation Revolution" in 1974. During the fall of Portugal, the author Marie Ueda lived in Lisbon and worked for The Guardian newspaper of London, England, as a photojournalist. She reported her eyewitness accounts of chronicle events of the national crisis that changed the Portuguese history upside down entirely. She also covers the incident of Fatima, known as Secrets of Fatima, which was a UFO apparition phenomenon. In addition, she describes Portuguese music culture tradition called Fado, known as Soul of Portugal, which is popularly sung among local Lisbon people for centuries. The above stories are compiled in all one volume in this book. I do hope my presentation is unique and enlightens my readers.
