Socio-economic development of marginalized communities and disempowered people, as well as poor countries, has been the core issue of concern in contemporary human rights agenda.However, many countries failed to secure adequate living standards for their population and proved to be unsuccessful in their strategies of poverty alleviation.Poverty by its nature encompasses various factors, which constitute a state of affairs that brings suffering to billions throughout the world.Poverty kills - it is a life-threatening phenomenon.Combating extreme poverty is a matter of urgency. The affluent states are bound by human rights responsibilities of international assistance and co-operation to give a hand to poor countries in overcome poverty. The first part intends to confirm that poverty constitutes denial of human rights.The second section aims to illustrate the explicit link between poverty and human development.Following part examines the Article 2 (1) the CESCR and the last section talks about the essential elements of International Assistance and Co-operation. This work may interest those who aim to work on poverty and right to development issues from human rights perspective.
