For many Asian countries like Philippines, tuber crops such as taro is associated with poor farming households. They have been traditionally accorded lesser priority in research, extension, and government policy. According to Food and Agriculture Organization (2012) of the United Nation, there were still a lot of taro production that relies on age old, traditional production methods. Research into various agronomic practices are needed in order to improve productivity, in particular, simple methods for rapid generation and multiplication of planting materials, characterization of high yielding and good quality cultivar are needed to be explored. Hence, most promising varieties that possess numerous potential characteristics in terms of productivity, tolerance to taro Leaf Blight, nutrient levels and sensory acceptability were explored and compiled in this book.
