For as long as anyone can remember, the System's identity recognition program has brought safety and comfort to System City, feeding them the identities of those around them through a chip in their brain. That is until the System is corrupted by a virus, scrambling names and throwing the city into chaos. With identities shuffling every few hours, tensions rise around the city, forcing leaders to find a scapegoat. Who better to blame than the hundreds of unwanted and unmistakable orphan girls, known as Haydens? Inevitably, as prominent figures begin to publicly stoke hatred, a general distrust of Haydens grows into violent disdain. One of those orphans, Haddy Hayden, isn't affected by the ever-mixing identities, not since an accident "fried" her chip and cut her off from the System entirely.
