O knihe
Oral diseases are an imposing public health issue with a gradient trend of increase in incidence and morbidity rates worldwide. The diagnosis of diseased state is challenging owing to the lack of sensitive and characteristic biomarkers in the serum. Proteins are vital parts of living organisms, as they are the main components of the physiological metabolic pathways of cells. Proteomics is the large-scale study of proteins, particularly their structures and functions. Salivary proteomic analysis represents an evolving field of biology, including both diagnosis and treatment of various diseases and could be developed as a new approach to address the prevention of cancer and other oral pathological conditions.
