O knihe

Rolling process is an important and integral part of manufacturing industry to supply sheets and bars of various sizes, gauges and shapes. A lot of investment is involved in purchasing and maintaining such complex machinery. A large-scale deformation of metal is involved in the rolling process. Due to this, a large amount of load comes on the rolls which is then transmitted to other components of the machinery. The bending load coming on rolls is alternating in nature, causing the fatigue of rolls, which necessitates a very careful design of the rolls for prolonging its life. To estimate the load coming on rolls different researchers have presented their formulations. Formulations by four researchers i.e., A. Tselikov, S. Ekelund, W.L. Roberts and E. Siebel have been discussed in this book, and the roll load found from these has been compared with that found from an experimental setup on a rolling mill. Rolling mill was located at M/s B. G. Dhatu Udyog Limited, 52, Industrial Estate, Phase-2, Yamuna Nagar, Haryana (India). The results from experiment were found to be in good agreement with those found from the theoretical formulations from researchers.
