O knihe
The monograph is devoted to the study of humanitarian, i.e. personal, informal ties between citizens of Russia and Egypt, which play a key role in the formation of the image of the other people and intercultural interaction. The essence and types of humanitarian ties, secondary forms of intercultural interaction and its manifestations are considered. Various types of humanitarian ties during the period under study (late 19th - mid 20th century) - mutual temporary migrations, both voluntary (pilgrims and travelers) and forced (prisoners of war and refugees), as well as Russian diaspora in Egypt are analyzed. The imagological function of humanitarian ties and their contribution to both Russian and Egyptian culture is examined. The monograph is addressed to historians and culturologists, as well as to the general reader interested in Egypt and its ties with Russia.
