O knihe

Sea level variability and changes are manifestations of climate variability and repercussions of natural and manmade phenomena. According to the historical observations changes of ocean condition in many extreme weather and climate events have been recorded since about 1950. Meteotsunami is tsunami waves of meteorological origin, rather than of seismic origin. Small initial sea-level perturbations, of the order of a few centimeters, increase signi¿cantly through multi-resonant phenomena to create destructive events through the superposition of different factors such as resonance condition, Continental shelf, and coastal geometry. These waves are destructive, long, shallow, surface waves. Meteotsunami waves are originated due to the sudden variation of meteorological events over relatively small areas. The main meteorological factor of originating meteotsunami is moving pressure disturbances in the atmosphere.
