O knihe
The Indian subcontinent is witnessed by the number of earthquakes in the past resulted in the devastating aftermath imapcts and the loss of property and life. The markers to these great earthquakes preserved in the sediments with changing environment of deposition is addressed by few of the workers. The lack of standard terminology to define these seismically induced soft sediment deformations and their viability to infer the past magnitudes and deformation instability in the seismically prone zones are rarely evaluated. This book is aimed to acquaintance the needs and the understanding of sediment characteristics and the fluctuations in behaviour of material due to wave propagation and its bearing to the Quaternary earthquakes. The book contains seven chapters from, Chapter-1 to Chapter-7. Capter-1 describes the introduction of earthquakes and other related aspects in brief. Chapter-7 finally concludes the different facets of seismicity activated and their soft-sediment deformation anomalies with particular reference to Karewa Group, Kashmir Valley, India. Besides these, the other chapters deals with the tectonic setups and other aspects of Himalaya particularly Quaternary age.
