O knihe
Wetlands designated as Ramsar sites of international importance play a crucial role in maintaining landscape ecological processes. The main objective of this work is to characterize the Mbissi River fishery and to contribute to the management of the Setté Cama Ramsar site. This study is based on 3 data collection methods: documentary research, semi-structured interviews and direct observations. The results of this work indicate that the situation of the Mbissi River fishery is quite alarming. The results of this work indicate that the situation of the Mbissi River fishery is quite alarming. The surveys reveal that the populations have a low level of education and the fishing income varies on average between 50.000Fcfa (rainy season) and 150.000Fcfa (dry season). This study shows that the most important problems for this community are the theft of fish and the transport of fish products. However, it appears that fishery resources have been reduced by 73 kg of fish per day in the dry season (1997-2017) and by 10 kg of fish per fishing day in the wet season. Management measures need to be taken quickly by involving local communities.
