But that boy was a man already, as his whole deport ment and discourse so signally showed. He was a Universalist minister, then settled in Charlestown, a bright consummate ¿ower of the Universalist faith. No particular advantages of academic or theological education had he enjoyed. But his were faculties SO ready and forward, that they appeared to educate themselves. They required painstaking nurture as little as they did careful pruning or sharp restraint. At the touch of the common light and air, they came out in all their fulness. They blossomed into know ledge. They grew into piety. They spread abroad into love. They gave no credit to the theory, that dulness or depravity is the necessary heritage of the human race.
